GUI updates! PDF Print E-mail

Work recently has been focused in two major areas, GUI design and server scaling.

One of the bug things we want players to be able to do is customize their UI to fit their play style. To that effect, Aurash has been doing a bunch of really cool things with XML backed UI layouts that are fully customizable including panel/button layout, colors, and scale. We hope to eventually allow for user created UI widgets which should give some awesome results.
Aurash can probably also talk some more on that and the server changes (alot of it can be found in the server stastus forum thread)

We have also been playing around with what we want the default UI to look like, what widgets we want to see, ect. We will have some shots of that up soon (really).

The team has also been doing a great job coming up with some awesome story work as well, there will probably just be hints of that work in the upcoming beta/tech demo.

One of the next major tasks coming up is ship appearance customizations. Both in team/clan colors, but possibly custom decals, if there is major player support for that. (Something similiar to the tools provided in Forza 2)

Thought I'd deliver on that promised screenshot -- here is a picture of a server full of 100 bots (and me) dog fighting to the death!

 100 bots dueling!

Drilling continues! Worker bee seen tapping at plastic board all day every day.

The GUI system has been revamped to be more flexible and sleek. Still toying with new GUI designs and layouts.
The next step codewise is to get shader support more fully implemented. There are a couple ship designs I have in mind that will need on-model shader support, which the engine currently doesn't support.

Hopefully I will have something to show mocked up soon. Stay Tuned!
